DIY: Colorful Tissue Box

Monday, July 11, 2016

I do not know about you guys, but I am quite a cry baby (in both a good and bad way). I tend to cry when I laugh too hard and I tend to cry when I am really stressed out. Regardless what the reason is behind my tears, I go through a lot of tissues. With that being said, I wanted to create a cover that I can reuse when I finish a box of tissues!

The only items you will need for this DIY are:

  • An empty tissue box
  • Embroidery thread
  • Elmer’s Glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Felt

Here are the instructions:

  1. Cut the top of the tissue box off (where you would usually get the tissues out of)
  2. Cut a small square on the bottom of the tissue box so you can pull tissues out of it
  3. Start covering the sides of the tissue box with embroidery thread making sure to apply and spread some regular glue to prevent the thread from moving around
  4. Decorate the top of your tissue box with any felt design you like. I chose to make a cupcake frosting design with bits of hot glue drops as sprinkles

Now you can slip the tissue box cover over other tissue boxes! I think this is a fun DIY to do just because you can change the design out whenever you feel like it without breaking the bank.
