My Love for Charlie Brown

Sunday, March 13, 2016

I never thought I would ever be a collector of anything, but I was quite wrong about that. I have no idea when it started, but I have always loved Charlie Brown (the entire Peanuts series). There was always something so joyous about watching A Charlie Brown's Christmas every winter season and reading the Sunday Peanuts comic strip every week. I never realized that my love for it was to the point of collecting items that had Charlie Brown and his friends on them until I took a look around my room.

A couple years back, my family and I took a cruise to the Bahamas. During this cruise, there was an art event where you were able to purchase artwork from varying artists. I managed to nab a signed print of Snoopy hugging Charlie Brown for $50 (50/150 print). A few years later my sibling surprised me with a travel mug and snow globe of Snoopy on it, both of which I still have to this day. Recently, on one of my trips to Chicago, my friend surprised me with a beautiful Moleskine planner that had my favorite Peanuts mini series: Lucy and Charlie Brown. I felt like it was such a fitting planner because he asked to see her about happiness and how he is afraid to be happy because it always ends up being taken away. Lucy asks him if he is happy and he responds with a yes only for her to knock him out of his car, therefore, just making the entire comic strip piece the story of my life, haha.

All in all, it is a huge part of my childhood growing up and it is something I know will not change as I continue to age. Thanks for always being around, Charlie Brown.
